What are the possible strategies for the change of production paradigm traced by the circular economy? What are the opportunities offered to designers in terms of material innovation? How to orient yourself and move effectively, without falling into green washing?

Four sessions lasting two hours each will tell, from raw materials to end-of-life, the possible approaches in the different types of materials, from plastics (of petrochemical or bio origin), to woods and derivatives, papers, textiles, leathers and imitation leathers, coatings, composites, etc.

october 19, 2021 // Life Cycle

The introductory module explores how materials, throughout their life cycle, can help implement sustainability and circular economy strategies.

october 26, 2021 // In the loop

The module explores the theme of recycling in its various facets, from recycled content to recyclability.

november 2, 2021 // Bio-future

The module addresses the topic of bio-based materials (of plant or animal origin) for durable or single-use applications. Particular attention is given to the world of plastics and potential substitutes for materials of petrochemical origin.

november 9, 2021 // There was waste

The module considers the topic of agricultural and industrial waste both from the point of view of the manufacturer (disposal), and of their possible use as new raw materials, with a view to industrial symbiosis or design of materials.
